The four most recent additions to the British List took place on July 22nd 2009 and are as follows:
Pacific Diver, Yellow-nosed Albatross, Glaucous-winged Gull and Asian Brown Flycatcher.
The British List now stands at 587 species:
Category A = 568 | Category B = 9 | Category C = 10
Category A - species which have been recorded in an apparently natural state at least once since January 1st 1950
Category B - species which would otherwise be in Category A but have not been recorded in an apparently natural state since December 31st 1949
Category C - species that have established breeding populations derived from introduced stock that maintain themselves without necessary recourse to further introduction
